Compelling yet vague

I like to read, as much as possible, blogs and newspapers that politically I don’t agree with. I often take the Daily Mail or if I’m feeling particularly militant the Daily Express (The Mail’s paramilitary wing). Stuff like The Mighty Righty or Michelle Malkin always interests me because no matter how well thought out their arguments I just can’t come to terms with their unswerving view that they are right and everyone else is Liberal wrong.

Every now and again they say something so outrageous (that is I personally find it outrageous) that I swear never to go back again as it’s bad for my heart. But time passes and I think to myself hey I wonder what that lovely Michelle’s been up to.

Today Michelle is writing about a UCLA student that was tasered by security for not showing them ID and being a bit of a prick Now I’m not sure who’s wrong and who’s right but it’s good that there’s a healthy debate about security issues and ID cards and students being pricks but what I can’t stand is hypocrisy.

Michelle, bless her conservative heart, is on the side of the security forces. She’s posted the video of the incident on her site.

Been getting e-mails about this all night. Here’s the video. The usual police-bashers are attacking campus security for taking extreme measures when the student repeatedly refused to show ID and physically defied them. The student is out of control. A mob forms. Did the officers overreact? (Let me be clear: If those officers broke any laws, they should be prosecuted. But the whole story needs to be told.) Who baited whom? Click to watch:

See how balanced that is? She states her case and at the end remembers to point out that though she’s on the side of the security guard, if those guards have done something illegal they should be punished. Ok then, super, we can all go on with our lives. Hold on though, what’s this?

The Los Angeles Times, naturally, is trying to turn this latest videotaped incident into a broad-brushed excuse to tar all law enforcement.

Broad brush? Tar all law enforcement? that’s just not right is it? It’s certainly not balanced and fair on the law enforcement community. Those of you with irony meters will no doubt see where I’m going with this.

Let’s scroll on down a read the other entries on Michelle’s blog shall we. Not far down the page we have an entry titled ‘Open borders consequences, continued‘ What could this be about?

Well it’s about an illegal alien who killed someone.

Michelle prepares a big bucket ‘o tar and an even bigger brush and writes

If our physical borders were adequately enforced, if illegal alien smuggling laws were adequately enforced, if employer sanctions were adequately forced, and if illegal alien sanctuary laws were abolished, Diego Pillco would never have been able to come here, stay here, work here, and kill here. And Adrienne Shelly would be alive today.

Basically all illegal immigrants are killers and if the borders were closed nobody would die. How balanced and fair.

  1. Adrienne Shelly and Mary Nagle are prime examples of why UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS are dangerous. Its not that all illegals are killers or anything of the sort… its a basic saftey issue. Desperate people are the most dangerous people out there… tie that to being in a foriegn country with ties to the culture or the people who live here and you have a disaster waiting to happen.

Use your head for something besides a hat rack.

  2. No David, it’s a prime example of how the INDIVIDUALS that killed Adrienne Shelly and Mary Nagle are dangerous.

I was pointing out that while Michelle Malkin doesn’t want the liberal press to tar all law enforcement officers with the same brush after one well publicised altercation she’s happy to tar all immigrants with the same brush after an incident involving one of them.

Hat rack? Now that’s funny! Well done you!

  3. Let’s look at the issue of ’cause and effect’.

    1. If our southern border was more secure, Diego Pillco would not be
here in this country and Adrienne Shelly would be alive.

    2. If the person who hired Diego Pillco, did the right thing and hire
only document workers, Adrienne Shelly would be alive.

  4. 1. Yes that’s true.
    2. Documented workers don’t kill people?

I refer you to the answer I gave earlier:
