Got an Apple TV 2 and updated it to 5.0 and lost your AirPlay and Home Sharing?
Make sure that your wireless router is using:
WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]
and not
WPA-PSK [TKIP] or
WPA2-PSK [AES]
You can use it on an open network if you really, really want to.

Thx for the tip.
Unfortunately, I checked my router and it does indeed use TKIP and AES, still doesn’t work
Any other suggestions?

Could you get it to work with wireless security turned off altogether? My steps went roughly like this: Log out and turn home sharing off on the Apple TV and iTunes. Reset the Apple TV -there’s a complete factory restore and a simple reset, I did simple then factory restore. Then I turned the wireless security off and turned home sharing back on. (this worked, but obviously left the network open). Tried each level of security until it worked again.
